Not another book about storytelling

I know what you're thinking...

Not another book about storytelling.

When marketers see a new trend, they jump on it like ants at a picnic.

"Experts" come out of the woodwork after watching a few YouTube videos.

They use ChatGPT to create a generic course they want to sell to you for $1997.

They'll offer to write stories for you even though they don't share their stories on LinkedIn or SubStack.

If you are a storytelling expert, why aren't you writing stories every day?

Yes, storytelling is a very hot trend.

There are 2,800,000 people on LinkedIn with the word "story" in their profile.

My LinkedIn inbox has hundreds of messages from "storytelling" experts promoting their offers.

Donald Miller created StoryBrand in 2010 and is considered to be the Cadillac of storytelling courses.

He's considered to be "THE" storytelling expert.

He's been writing stories and certifying thousands of students for 15 years.

My friend Tom Ruwitch is also a storytelling expert.

After selling his business a few years ago, he created Story Power Marketing.

I was blunt with him.

"Why are you trying to compete with millions of storytelling "experts"?

What makes you different?"

The story is the nucleus -- the core -- of all of your marketing.

If that core doesn't have enough power, nothing else will work.

That's why we start with the story. That's what makes us different.

We've honed our approach over the decades.

And we now have a unique, proven process to discover your business story, diagnose the weaknesses, power-up your messages, and keep the power running.

Tom writes stories every day.

He's always looking for ways to improve his storytelling formula.

Tom's new book,
Story Power Marketing, shows you how to create compelling stories to promote your business.

This month, Story Power Marketing is our featured book in the
Mastermind Book Club.

Tom and I created the Mastermind Book Club a few years ago because we love to read.

If you don't have time to read the book, we read it for you, then we have a group discussion.

On Thursday January 23rd at 11:30 AM Pacific/1:30 PM Eastern, we will discuss Story Power Marketing.

A few weeks ago, I couldn't walk more than a few steps. I'd fall to the floor, curl up in fetal position, feeling like I was still falling. For 21 days, I was bedridden with extreme vertigo in both ears, unable to work, unable to concentrate for more than a few seconds, unable to do the simplest things I'd always taken for granted. It was one of the most challenging periods of my life. But something unexpected happened as I began to recover. This obstacle that completely derailed my life...

Last week, I caught myself snapping at my wife over something trivial, a misplaced glass. I felt embarrassed and said to myself, “This isn’t me!” But Chapter 24 of Modern Wisdom, Ancient Roots explained exactly what was going on and offered a path out of it. Dr. Rao reveals that anger and fear aren’t triggered by what’s happening around us. They come from resistance to our present moment. When life doesn’t match our expectations, we tense up, tighten our identity, and react, rather than...

I’ve lived through three career arcs so far and each one followed the same pattern: Master a skill. Become the expert. Then watch the world move on. In the 1980s, I was an award-winning field engineer in Silicon Valley. Back then, fixing computers meant using voltmeters and oscilloscopes. Real diagnostic work. You had to know what you were doing. But by the end of the decade? It was all board swapping. Technical mastery wasn’t needed anymore. So I pivoted. In the ’90s, I became a network...
